  how would somebody argue the jw doctrine that a divorced person cannot remarry a jw unless "scripturally" divorced..ive looked through the bible scriptures on this and find it hard to argue the jw interpretation although i would be really grateful for any arguments against the jw interpretation on this that could hold water!!

  How Dysfunctional A Witness Were You?

  reading posters' comments help me to see that since leaving "the organization", many have gotten emotionally better.

  of course, you don't have to be a witness to have dysfunction but feeling the pressure of always being told that we are inferior, that we're not doing enough, can get to the best of us!

  looking back, how dysfunctional were you??

  Minimus:

  Being raised up in the religion, of couse I was dysfunctional. That goes without saying. However, I don't know that Witnesses were any more dysfunctional than the kids that came to school with drug, sexual, alcohol, etc. abuse history. It all boils down to the same thing, in the end. It's all abuse. I knew Witness kids that didn't have any kind of abuse and they were worse off than the kids that DID.

  It seems it all just boils down to the individual person, like it always does, religious abuse or not.

  Were these sextuplets born as a result of in-vitro or some other type of infertility treatment? I just wonder how that demonstrates their "respect for precious life" that they knowingly would engage in conduct (the infertility treatments) that could possibly result in a multiple pregnancy, which then, in turn sometimes causes the resulting children to be born with intensive health care needs, INCLUDING transfusions, if need be. I realize that that, in itself, is a controversial issue, but it seems to demonstrate their absolute disregard for human life, in that they know that they are putting the possible children at extreme risk, much less having to make a decision that could alter their salvation AND their children's lives? Argh!

  I don't know, perhaps I'm wrong. I'm aware that there's another side to that coin. Isn't that like saying "Well, I'm going to take this train to <wherever>. I know there's a few trellis bridges that are somewhat old and shaky, and I know there's a few parts of the track that may be out, but I trust in God that I'll make it"? It's like putting yourself in front of a runaway train!

  Seems like I heard something about a Transcontinental Corridor? I keep seeing signs down my road (way out in the country) telling the Texas Dept. of Transportation they are not welcome on their land for the Transcontinental Corridor. Supposedly this road will go from Canda, through the United States (and through Texas, thereby gulping up my land), to Mexico and will unite the three countries for massive trade. I know that there is a big sector of people here that are terribly angry about it because it is mostly being done in secret, and without public meetings being announced (??).

  Maybe that's why it was so easy for the Supreme Court to pass that law that says they can take your land from you (eminent domain) and pay you what THEY decide it's worth, instead of the current market value as determined by an independant board -- and they can take it if the municipality determines that they need to increase their tax base for whatever reason.

  Kind of scary... Don't know if it has anything to do with it or not..

  apparently, they found voodoo related necklaces etc.

  And the one about the smurf running, screaming down the aisle of the Kingdom Hall and out the back door... and the one where the sister went to the door of a serial killer's house and the man backed off in terror seeing two big angels standing next to her.. and the one that the world was gonna end in 1914, 1925, and 1975... yada yada yada. This cult religion is one big superstition!

  Why do you post?

  i am not talking about questions or inquirying about what to do with a problem.. when you post what are some of the reasons you give your thoughts on matters?.

  for me, i enjoy talking to others who can understand my experience but more importantly for me, i know there are lurkers or people right on the fringes who are sick of all of it.

  i try to give a biblical explanation on matters that shows the error of going beyond the things written.

  I have been hunting the paranormal since I was a young girl, 9 at least. What I have understood over my many years of paranormal investigations is that there are very many different paranormal feelings, and beings. Harmless entites are paranormal entities that don't mean harm to someone, but that live alive in our descriptions.

  I was raised in the JWs. I could go on and on about what constitutes praying to, allowing, signs, etc. about the demons. You could get demons if you bought something from the second hand store that looked "too old." You could get demons from associating with a person at work that did the tarot. You could "get demons" if you did yoga. Almost every circumstance from normal life you could get demons, depending on who was interpreting it.

  I have been a ghost hunter for several years. I am a skeptical ghost hunter. I say that 90% of my investigations are just some normal explanations. In all my years as a ghost hunter, I have never encountered what I would consider a DEMON. Never. I've had things move in my presence, I've had voices on tape, but nothing so scary as a demon might be. My Mother thinks I am demon possessed because I'm a ghost hunter, and am SEARCHING for paranormal activity, that Satan must have planted himself on my doorstep and I have demons.

  I have always know that DEMONS are mischevious tricksters, at least that is what I thought. But, even in the most malevolent of investigations, there was no demon coming at me with claws, fire breath, all that. I've always encountered just harmless entities.

  Demons.. PFFFAH!

  Be up front that you'd just like to be friends and just go out with all of them and have fun! Tell them you are just single and having fun -- they know what that means. When you find one you'd like to get more serious with, then tell the other ones. Just be honest.
